Description:

Burnaby Blacktop Ltd. is seeking an experienced and motivated Safety Manager to support and lead our health & safety programs across municipal, commercial, and industrial projects.

This position is ideal for someone with a strong construction background who is committed to maintaining high safety standards and fostering a proactive safety culture on-site.

Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in the construction industry
  • Previous experience in a safety-related role
  • Experience with COR (Certificate of Recognition) programs
  • Experience with BC 1 Call processes and utility locating

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and safety practices
  • Experience conducting site inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations
  • Ability to develop and implement safety policies and procedures
  • Experience supporting or leading COR audits and compliance
  • Familiarity with BC 1 Call requirements and underground utility coordination
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular site safety inspections and audits
  • Ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC and company safety policies
  • Support and maintain the company’s COR program
  • Coordinate and verify BC 1 Call tickets and utility locates prior to excavation
  • Ensure crews are aware of and working safely around underground utilities
  • Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions
  • Deliver safety training and toolbox talks
  • Maintain accurate safety records and documentation
  • Collaborate with supervisors and crews to promote a strong safety culture
  • Identify hazards and implement proactive safety improvements
