Either way, you need to know what the receiving facility accepts before you send a truck across Metro Vancouver.

At our Burnaby Blacktop Transfer Station & Aggregate Depot, we accept qualifying broken asphalt, broken concrete, mixed asphalt and concrete loads, and excavated soil up to CL+.

Here’s what you should know before you arrive.

Bringing Us Broken Asphalt

If you’re removing an asphalt parking lot, roadway or driveway, the material coming out of the ground still has value.

Old asphalt can be recovered and processed rather than simply treated as waste. Recovered asphalt is commonly referred to as Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) once it enters the recycling and reuse cycle.

You may generate broken asphalt during:

Bringing Us Broken Concrete

You may also need somewhere to take concrete removed during demolition, excavation or site reconstruction.

We accept qualifying broken concrete at our Burnaby Transfer Station.

That material commonly comes from old:

• Curbs

• Concrete slabs
• Parking areas
• Commercial sites
• Municipal infrastructure

Recovering concrete allows usable construction material to be processed rather than unnecessarily sent to landfill.

What If Your Asphalt and Concrete Are Mixed?

This is where you can save yourself some unnecessary work.

If you’re demolishing an existing paved area, asphalt and concrete don’t always come out in perfectly separated piles.

You might have asphalt pavement next to concrete curbs, sidewalks, pads or other structures. Spending extra machine and labour time separating every piece before loading the truck isn’t always practical.

We accept mixed asphalt and concrete loads at the same price.

That makes it easier for you to load, haul and keep the project moving.

If your load contains other materials, contact us first. Acceptance depends on what’s actually in the truck, so it’s better to confirm before your driver arrives at the gate.

Know What You’re Hauling Before You Leave the Site

One of the easiest ways to avoid a wasted trip is simply knowing what’s in your load.

Before you send a truck to our yard, be prepared to tell us what you’re hauling and, when required, where the material originated.

That’s especially important with excavated soil.

Our facility accepts qualifying excavated soil up to CL+, but soil acceptance depends on the material meeting our current requirements.

A quick conversation with our team before dispatch is a lot easier than finding out there’s an issue once your truck is already loaded.

Don’t Automatically Send the Truck Back Empty

Here’s where our Burnaby yard works a little differently.

You’ve already paid for the truck.

You’ve already paid for the driver.

And the truck has already made the trip.

So what happens after you unload?

Our facility is both a Transfer Station and an Aggregate Depot. If your project needs aggregate, you can potentially unload your accepted material and reload before returning to the job site.

We supply:

• Recycled 19 mm Road Base
• Virgin 19 mm Road Base
• Virgin 75 mm Subbase

All three products meet MMCD specifications.

Hauling isn’t only about tipping rates.

We know you also need to consider how far your truck travels, how long it takes to get there and what the truck does afterward.

Our extended 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. hours also give you more flexibility when you’re scheduling trucks around excavation, demolition and construction work.
